Tai Chi
Tai Chi developed in ancient China. It started as a martial art and means of self-defense. Over time, people began to use it for health purposes as well. Accounts of the history of Tai Chi vary. A popular legend credits its origins to Chang San-Feng, a monk who developed a set of 13 exercises that loosely imitate the movements of animals. He also emphasized meditation and the concept of internal force (in contrast to the external force used in Kung Fu and Karate).
Tai Chi, when practiced regularly, can help to balance and supplement all of the body’s energies leading to more robust health and well-being. Tai Chi is also very relaxing and can be practiced by people of all ages and levels of fitness, from the very young to the very old. Tai Chi is not based on any religion and does not require that you change any of your personally held religion. Quite simply, Tai Chi is gentle yet effective exercise for the mind and body that anyone can practice at any time.
